Former captain of Cameroon’s senior national football team Rigobert Song has been hospitalised after suffering from cerebral aneurysm, which made him unconscious.
The ex-West Ham and Liverpool defender, 40, was taken to hospital in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Song played for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon between 1993 and 2010 and also played in a record 8 African Cup of Nations tournaments. He captained his country in five of those competitions.
He holds the record for most consecutive games played in the tournament with 35 first team games as well as the record for the most capped player for Cameroon with 135 appearances.
