Police have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of attempted burglary after Wayne Rooney's £6 million mansion was almost broken into earlier this month.
A gang of balaclava-wearing thugs tried to raid the home earlier this month - while Wayne was playing in his own testimonial.
Police rushed to the star's huge Cheshire abode - which was empty at the time - after the burglars set off the top-of-the-range alarm system.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Officers investigating an attempted burglary in Prestbury have arrested a man in relation to the incident.

“The 24-year-old man was arrested earlier today on suspicion of attempted burglary.
“The arrest relates to an attempted burglary that occurred at approximately 9.00pm on Wednesday 3rd August at an address in the Chelford Road area of Prestbury.
“The man, who is from the Scarborough area, is currently being held in police custody where he is assisting officers with their inquiries.”
A source has claimed that while his wife Coleen has been living in fear since the shocking incident took place, she is desperately trying to put on a brave face for her kids.
