Rappers Missy Elliott and Trina have sent their condolences to Lil Wayne's ex-wife Toya Wright after her two brothers were gunned down in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Police discovered the bodies of Rudy and Josh Johnson in a car in the early hours of Sunday (31Jul16). They were pronounced dead at the scene after each sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, and their apparent murders are now under investigation by authorities.
Toya, who shares 17-year-old daughter Reginae with Wayne, took to Instagram to confirm the tragic news and pay tribute to her siblings.
Alongside a photo of her brothers, the reality TV star wrote, "Help me Lord I will never understand this. #stoptheviolence #ineverfeltpainlikethisbefore #riptomybrothers #icantbelievethis #prayformyfamily (sic)".
Fans and followers have since flooded Toya's social media page with messages of condolence, while her celebrity friends have also taken to Twitter to express their grief.
Missy Elliott tweeted, "My prayers go out to @ToyaWright & her family during this difficult time... This pain would be tough on any family", while Trina posted, "I'm praying for @ToyaWright her mom and her family during this horrible tragedy. My heart is heavy. Life is so short."
R&B/soul star Jazmine Sullivan added, "My condolences @ToyaWright praying for u (sic)," and Toya's former friend, singer K. Michelle, put their differences behind them to send her best to the grieving 32-year-old.
"I just received word of ur loss...," she began. "Nobody deserves that type of pain. We may never be best friend but U are my sister in Christ. I pray for u and your whole family. Continue 2fight for 4ur healing...
"No beef or hate in my heart 4 you. Only support and prayers up. Please know that God has a purpose on ur life. Stay strong (sic)."
Wayne, who was married to his childhood sweetheart Toya from 2004 to 2006, has yet to comment on the news, which emerged just three days after she reportedly filed for divorce from rapper Memphitz, according to Us Weekly. The estranged couple had been married for five years.
