Eddie Murphy Took a Break From Hollywood so People wouldn't Get Tired' of his face

Eddie Murphy dropped his comedic side for upcoming movie Mr. Church.

The American actor is best known for his performances in funny films like Shrek, Dr. Dolittle and Norbit, but in drama Mr. Church, Eddie stars as cook Henry Joseph Church, who forms a close bond with a mother dying of breast cancer and her daughter Charlotte (Britt Robertson) after being hired to look after them.

Not only does it mark a new role for the star, but Mr. Church is also the first big screen outing he's had since 2012's A Thousand Words. When quizzed on the absence, Eddie insists it was a deliberate choice.

"Audiences, if they're seeing you all the time, they'll get sick of looking at your face," Eddie told Entertainment Tonight. "I'm no different from any of the other faces... So I was like, let me take a break and give the audience a break."
Returning to the big screen is proving to be rejuvenating for Eddie, who has covered the gamut of comedic roles. But this time round he gets to show off his drama chops.
"After 35 years, I've been making movies and I've been blessed to play everybody from the donkey to an old lady to talking to the animals," Eddie smiled. "I've done all these different types of stuff and I've never done anything like this, and if you get something that you've never done before after you've been doing something all these years, that's a cool thing."
That's not to say Eddie hasn't been busy; he's worked hard on his reggae music over the last few years and in May of this year (16) he and girlfriend Paige Butcher welcomed daughter Izzy, joining Eddie's other kids; Eric, 27, Bria, 26, Christian, 25, Miles, 23, Shayne, 21, Zola, 16, Bella, 14, and Angel, nine.
While some may find juggling so many children and a career difficult, Eddie would't have his life any other way.
"The brightest part of my life is my kids," he smiled, joking, "my world revolves around them - even the old, gray bald ones."
