Ahmed Musa strike seals win for CSKA Moscow
The Nigerian was in superb form for the Horses and scored his side’s only goal against the Meat as Leonid Slutsky’s men maintained their lead atop the Russian topflight log
Ahmed Musa scored the bywinner as CSKA Moscow beat Spartak Moscow 1-0 in the Russian Premier League game played at the Arena Khimki on Sunday.
Both managers opted for strong line-ups but it was one of Musa whose 11th minute strike ensured Leonid Slutsky’s men remain atop the log, three points ahead of closest challenger FK Rostov.
The Nigerian converted from close range after teammate Zoran Tošić’s effort was cleared off the goal line of the visitors.
CSKA Moscow had enjoyed few chances before the break, but Roman Eremenko should have scored five minutes into the second half, as Spartak Moscow keeper Artem Rebrov denied the striker at the back post.
The Horses now boast of 40 points from 19 games and they travel to Olimp – 2Rostov-on-Don for a date wiith FK Rostov on March 12.
Musa is among Samson Siasia’s 42 man invitees for next week’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna.
