T.I. sued by restaurant employees over unpaid wages

Los Angeles premiere of 'Get Hard'

Rapper T.I. has been sued by 12 of his former restaurant employees for allegedly failing to pay their wages.
The Live Your Life star, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., opened his soul food restaurant Scales 925 in Atlanta, Georgia in May, 2015. According to a lawsuit filed by 12 former employees in United States Northern District of Georgia on Tuesday (05Jul16), the musician reportedly failed to pay his staff all of their wages.

In the suit, which also lists the rapper's business partner Charles Hughes as a defendant, the employees claim they were deprived of wages and not compensated for any hours they worked overtime.

They also insist overtime was deleted from the restaurant's payroll computer program so the bosses didn't have to pay up and they were also "coerced to work off the clock." The group claim money was deducted from their wage slips to pay for payroll taxes, but then the taxes were not paid, and Hughes deposited funds from the restaurant into his personal bank account, which caused cheques to bounce.

The ex-staff, who all quit because of these alleged issues, want a jury trial and unspecified compensation for the loss of wages, attorney fees, plus damages.
