Sylvester Stallone celebrates turning 70

European Premiere of 'Creed'
Sylvester Stallone celebrated turning 70 with family and friends - including Prince Albert II of Monaco - at a surprise party in Monte Carlo on Wednesday (06Jul16)
The Rocky star was treated to a dinner for 88 of his closest friends at restaurant La Trattoria Sporting Monte-Carlo by old friends Victoria Oberfeld and her husband Isaac.

Hollywood veteran Sylvester arrived in the South of France with his wife Jennifer and daughters Sophia, 19, Sistine, 18, and 14-year-old Scarlet on Tuesday afternoon (05Jul16).

The Oberfelds extended the invitation to Sylvester and his family, but the Creed actor admitted he had no idea of the surprise awaiting him.

"They're both from California but live in Monaco," the actor said of the Oberfelds to French newspaper Nice-Matin. "I'm here because my friend Victoria invited me. It's a surprise for me. I didn't expect such a party. I thought for my 70th birthday, she would have offered me a hamburger and some French fries."

Singer Ricky Martin was reportedly among the guests, and Prince Albert II, the reigning monarch of the Principality of Monaco, and its Minister of State Serge Telle, also popped in to wish the actor their congratulations.

An overjoyed Sylvester added: "I was really pleased to see all these guests and in particular Prince Albert." Partygoers enjoyed Italian cuisine at the Alain Ducasse-owned restaurant, and the star was treated to a towering birthday cake to mark the landmark occasion with several tiers and just a few candles.

Sony executive Anne Lara also attended the festivities, and she tweeted a picture of a gift the ladies at the party received, a small friendship style bracelet with a single gold boxing glove charm.
