Nicole Scherzinger signs up for new series of The X Factor
Nicole appeared as a judge on The X Factor in 2012, 2013 and 2016, and won over fans with her unique sense of humour.
Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly signed on for another season of The X Factor following rumours Mariah Carey was after her chair.
Nicole appeared as a judge on The X Factor in 2012 and 2013 and won over fans with her unique sense of humour and hilarious invention of words such as "Shamazing" and "Shamazeballs".
The 38-year-old singer returned to the panel of the ITV talent show for the 2016 series, alongside judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, and now is said to have signed on the dotted line for this year's season after allegations that Mariah was in line for her spot on the panel.
"Nicole is so highly thought off by X Factor that there was always the intention to tie her down for another year," a source told The Sun. "Once she heard other names being mentioned, she was keen to get her deal locked down and it's now there to sign."
It remains to be seen how Nicole will manage her time considering she is also working on a new music project with will.i.am as well as apparently being in talks to lead the cast of a Wicked movie musical.
However, Nicole's rumoured decision to stay on the show doesn't mean that Mariah won't be involved in some capacity.
According to the publication, Mariah could earn herself a judging spot on the show if Sharon doesn't return for the 2017 series due to her bad back and commitments with U.S. chat show The Talk.
"Mariah's name is still in the frame and, given it's X Factor, it's safer not to rule anything out," the source added.
X Factor bosses have reportedly put Mel B on the standby list if both Mariah and Sharon are unavailable when auditions begin. But the former Spice Girls star has her own drama to deal with, as she is currently going through a bitter divorce battle with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte.
