Boko Haram attacks NAF’s Helicopter

Boko Haram attacks NAF’s chopper
A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter conveying personnel on medical outreach to Gwoza, Borno State, yesterday came under attack from Boko Haram.
The Mi-17 helicopter was shot at several times by the insurgents. An airman was injured.
The helicopter left Maiduguri enroute Gwoza, the venue of a two-day medical outreach programme, when it came under attack by the insurgents.
The pilot, however, flew the helicopter to safety.

NAF spokesman Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, said following the attack, a helicopter gunship was deployed at the location between Bama and Gwoza to neutralise the threat.
“Intelligence report by ground troops confirmed scores of terrorists were killed, signifying that the air attack on the threat location was successful,” he said.
