Dwayne Johnson, The Rock Says New Jumanji Project Is Not a Remake'

Central Intelligence Red Carpet Premiere
The Furious 7 star announced his plans to tackle a new Jumanji story back in April (16), 21 years after the late Robin Williams starred as the adult Alan Parrish, who, as a child, was locked inside the titular board game.

Johnson subsequently revealed he and castmates Kevin Hart and Jack Black would "honour" Robin's legacy in the new project, and now he is clearing up more misconceptions about the revamped film.
In a lengthy Instagram post over the weekend (19-21Aug16), Dwayne revealed his excitement to "introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of
#JUMANJI", but added, "for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story".
Nick Jonas is also in talks to join the cast of the new Jumanji movie, which will be directed by Jake Kasdan and is set for release next summer (Jul17).
