Beyonce's mum has confirmed that Lemonade is about cheating and betrayal

Beyonce’s mum Tina Knowles Lawson confirmed that her daughter’s latest album, Lemonade, is about cheating and betrayal.
Beyonce’s mum Tina Knowles Lawson has confirmed her daughter's new album is about "cheating and betrayal".

The content of 'Lemonade' has led to speculation that Beyonce's husband Jay Z was unfaithful and though Tina Lawson didn't confirm the record is autobiographical, she thinks many people will be able to relate to the themes on the record. 

Speaking to ABC13, she said: "People make it all about the cheating and betrayal and, yes, that's a part of it because that is something you have to heal from." 


Tina split from her husband and Beyonce's father Mathew in 2011, but has since married actor Richard Lawson. 

She added: "And it's about the pain. And it's about the healing process. It's about how do you get past that and move on."

She added: "If you really listen to the poetry it is one of hope and redemption and hopefully that can be healing for people." 

Tina also recalled how her daughter's Beyonce and Solange helped her through her split from her husband. 

She said: "I remember my first little pity party and I called them crying and you know, they all came. 

"We had a slumber party, we watched old movies all night and ate ice cream--it was very healing. 

"My children are my rock and they are. It's just been the best gift God could have given me."
