L.A.X: I’ve a proper recording deal with Wizkid
Following the unabated rumour that he is the one funding his musical projects as an act under pop star Wizkid’s StarBoy Records, fast rising Afro-pop singer, L.A.X has dispelled the insinuation.
In a release by his PR representatives, the young singer stated that contrary to the rumour swirling around that he spent million of his money to fund his project, rather, he has a proper recording deal with Starboy Entertainment, which as part of its obligation, solely handles the funding of all his projects.
“I am an artiste signed under Wizkid’s label. It is the recording label that takes care of so many things,” said L.A.X.
According to him, he met Wizkid through his (L.A.X) stylist at the time he was recording in London and the EME star showed interest in his career.
“I came to Nigeria, met with Wizzy, he liked my songs, and that is what happened. He handles everything just as a record label should do to an artiste,” he added.
Born Damilola Afolabi, L.A.X, who is based in the United Kingdom, is the son of shipping magnate, Taiwo Afolabi. He was formerly signed to M2 Records but joined StarBoy Records in 2013.
He has two-year, two albums contract as part of his deal with Starboy Records.
He revealed that he has 50 hit songs already recorded while waiting to drop his debut album. These hits include two collaboration songs featuring Wizkid, ‘Caro’ and ‘Ginger’,and another single ‘Morenike’.
While not resting on his oars, he has also dropped another track “O le” (Bad)’ which features HKN Gang new act, Dremo and another rising star, YCee.
The new song is produced by the StarBoy label’s in-house producers, Legendary Beatz.
The video for ‘Ole (Bad)’ is in the making and will be dropping in few weeks.
L.A.X holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Salford University, Manchester as well as a Master’s degree from same institution.
He is currently in Nigeria to promote his new work.
