The team of lawyers representing Senate President, Bukola Saraki, walked out on the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday after the tribunal refused their application for stay of proceedings in the asset falsification trial against the Senate President.
The lawyers walked out of the CCT after the tribunal ruled that Saraki’s trial must continue despite his appeal at the Supreme Court.
The lawyers – Saka Issau (SAN), Ahmed Raji (SAN), Mahmud Magaji (SAN) and 23 others described the tribunal’s decision to proceed with the case despite the pending case at the apex court as “judicial rascality.”
The tribunal Chairman, Danladi Umar, described Saraki’s lawyers’ conduct as act of disrespect to the court.
He said the walk out was unwarranted.
The matter was adjourned to November 19.
