Victor Osimhen broke the FIFA U-17 World Cup goals record by scoring his 10th goal of Chile 2015 as the Golden Eaglets defeated Mali 2-0 to emerge champions of the tournament on Sunday night.
Osimhen also became the first player to score in every game in the tournament's history when he opened the scoring in ghe 56th minute.
The Eaglets almost took the lead as early as the fourth minute but Osinachi Ebere's penalty was saved by the Malian keeper.
In the second half, the Eaglets took control of the game and almost got the first goal through Osimhen but the keeper parried his effort to safety.
And after persistent pressure, Osimhen opened the scoring for the Eaglets after lashing on to a right wing cross which flew past the Malian keeper.
In the 59th minute, Funsho Bamgboye doubled the Eaglets' lead with a left-foot strike which left the Mali keeper stranded.
Efforts by the Malians to come back into the game came to nothing as the Eaglets held on to claim their fifth world title and their first outside Asia.
