Mysterious Fire Guts Oba of Lagos palace

A mystery fire on Tuesday gutted the palace of Lagos monarch, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, burning expensive traditional regalia.
It was gathered that the fire started around 1:30 p.m. at a store where the monarch’s royal beads, local fan and traditional attire were kept.
According to witnesses, two fire trucks were deployed to contain the inferno, which raged for about two hours.
Although it could not be ascertained if other parts of the palace were affected, the monarch was reportedly moved to safety.

Our correspondent gathered that it took a combined team of Rapid response Squad (RRS) policemen, officers from Lion Building, fire service and officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to quell the inferno.
The Fire Service Director, Rasaq Fadipe confirmed the incident but said he didn’t have facts at the time of filing this report.
