Adele and Radiohead to battle it out at AIM Awards

Glastonbury Festival 2016 - Performances - Day 2

Adele and Radiohead are both nominated for Track of the Year at Britain's AIM Independent Music Awards.

The prizegiving is organised by the Association of Independent Music (AIM), which recognises music released on independent record labels other than the 'big three' of Sony, Warner and Universal.

Adele's smash hit Hello and Radiohead's Burn the Witch are both nominated in the Independent Track of the Year category, alongside songs including Major Lazer's Light It Up (Remix), Skepta's Man and Roots Manuva's Don't Breathe Out.

Other artists up for the award are Christine And The Queens (Tilted), Field Music (The Noisy Days Are Over), Flume (Never Be Like You feat. Kai), Ghetts x Rude Kid, (One Take) and Protoje ft Chronixx (Who Knows).

Roots Manuva (Bleeds) and Skepta (Konichwa) will also compete with Radiohead (A Moon Shaped Pool) for Independent Album of the Year, in a category which also includes records from Arca (Mutant), Press To MECO (Good Intent), Little Simz (A Curious Tale Of Trials + Persons), Lapsley (Long Way Home), Brian Eno (The Ship), Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes (Blossom), and Field Music (Commontime).

Notable names in the Independent Breakthrough Category are grime star Stormzy and eccentric rocker Father John Misty.

Former Moloko frontwoman Roisin Murphy will receive an Outstanding Contribution to Music award.

AIM boss Alison Wenham comments, "The shortlisted nominees represent a huge diversity of artist and genres, and highlight the fact that the best place to be in the music industry right now is the independent sector."

Other awards which will be given out at the ceremony, which takes place at London's The Brewery venue on 6 September (16), include gongs for Best Live Act, Independent Video of the Year, Special Catalogue Release of the Year, Independent Label Of The Year, Hardest Working Band or Artist and the Golden Welly Award for Best Independent Festival.
