The Englishman is the first driver ever to win the British round of the F1 world championship three years running at Silverstone.
Rosberg’s lead in the drivers’ championship will now be cut to just four points at the half-way point of the season and Hamilton might even end up with the lead, as Rosberg faces a potential penalty for getting advice over his pit radio about how to deal with an issue with his gearbox.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished third after a ding-dong battle with Rosberg on the track.
