Drake commissioned a gold copy of a pair of sneakers from his OVO x Air Jordans range, from conceptual artist Matthew Senna
Drake has reportedly commissioned a copy of his OVO x Air Jordan 10 sneakers in 24-karat gold.
The rapper's heavily branded look has seen him become a style icon in his own right, with companies such as Canada Goose and Nike rushing to collaborate with him. He also has his own clothing line called October's Very Own, which is named after the record label OVO Sound he launched in 2012.
In 2015 Drake debuted his own collection of OVO x Air Jordans with Nike, and now his love of the footwear has gone even further as he shared a snap of a pair from his upcoming line on Instagram.
Alongside a photo of a shiny gold shoe, Drake wrote the caption: "@msenna @jumpman23 #SolidGold #24K#TheseAreNotToWear (sic)"In 2015 Drake debuted his own collection of OVO x Air Jordans with Nike, and now his love of the footwear has gone even further as he shared a snap of a pair from his upcoming line on Instagram.
He tagged conceptual artist and designer Matthew Senna (MSenna) in the snap, who confirmed he had created the golden sneakers and also shared photos of them on his Instagram. In one of the captions Matthew revealed the gold shoes weigh 100 pounds, which if they are real gold, at the current rate would reportedly be worth around $1.9 million (£1.4 million).
The artist also revealed the box the OVO Air Jordans were packaged in, posting a picture of a big wooden box with the letters OVO stamped in white paint on top, along with his signature scrawled on it.
Drake, 29, was named as one of GQ's 2016 Most Stylish Men In The World earlier this year (16), alongside the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Idris Elba
Previously speaking to Complex, Drake explained how much it means to him when fans wear his creations. "I love when people do get their hands on a Canada goose. I love when people do have an OVO jacket, how proud they wear it. Or when they see us all in the owl sweaters how evil it looks. I just live for those moments," he gushed.
