The Explosive Ordinance team of the Rivers State Police Command has recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Rumuche, Emohua LGA of the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Omoni Nnamdi, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday, stated that the device was placed to blow off a pipeline belonging to Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Natural Limited.
He said that investigation was ongoing with a view to apprehending other members of the armed robbery gang.
The device was said to have been fabricated with a large mass of dynamite and other accessories.
The Police Command is yet to give details as to who was responsible for placing the IED.
Meanwhile, the Police have assured residents of Rivers State of their preparedness to maintain the fight against criminals and have again pleaded for understanding and cooperation of all residents in terms of information sharing.
