Police deploy 2 helicopters in search of Former minister of state for Education, Iyabo Anisulowo

Police in Ogun have intensified the search for kidnapped former minis­ter of state for Education, senator Iyabo Anisulowo with the deployment of two helicopters on sur­veillance duty.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solo­mon Arase ordered the deployment of the two helicopters on Saturday.

As part of efforts to rescue Anisulowo, Com­missioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abdulma­jid Alli and some senior officers of the command had, on Friday, shifted the operational base to Ilaro, headquarters of Yewa South Local Gov­ernment area and other towns along Nigeria’s borders with neighbour­ing Republic of Benin.

Some armed men kidnapped Anisulowo last Wednesday, along the Sawonjo/Iganokoto Road in Yewa North Lo­cal Government area of the state.


The two choppers, which arrived on Satur­day, have been patrolling the likely hideouts of the suspected kidnappers in various areas within the state.

The search parties in­cluded Assistant Inspec­tor General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Com­mand Lagos, AIG Bala Hassan; Mr. Ali, Com­mander of the 35 Artil­lery Brigade, Brigadier General S. Danwalis; Director of the Depart­ment of State Security in the state, Mr. Kabir Sanni and search teams from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and the office of the IGP, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The police boss in the state, who spoke on be­half of the teams, assured that the abducted former minister would soon be rescued unhurt and cul­prits apprehended.

He added that every officer of the command and members of the search teams have been having sleepless nights, since the day of the inci­dent, strategising.

Ali thanked the IGP for his full support and concern towards the res­cue of the victim.

He also commended other security agen­cies, search teams and members of the public, particularly Ogun State Government for their support, assuring the public that every profes­sional strategy would be harnessed to make sure the kidnapped female politician is brought back home safely.
