Anthony Joshua dodges Tyson Fury fight night clash for first IBF world title defence
Anthony Joshua's first defence of his IBF heavyweight world title will be on June 25 at The O2.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has dropped his original plan to go for July 9 at Wembley, which would have clashed with Tyson Fury's rematch with Wladimir Klitschko on the same night at Manchester Arena.
Hearn also had reserved The O2, which has become home to the unbeaten Joshua, and saw little sense in putting two world heavyweight title fights on at the same time in the UK on rival TV channels.
Joshua's opponent for the first defence of the belt he won in spectacular fashion against Charles Martin earlier this month will be announced later.
The 2012 Olympic champ said: "If there is a date to get in your diary it's June 25 - my first title defence, The O2.
"Opponent to be announced, but I just spoke to coach and I told him I'm feeling great and I can't wait to get back in to camp.
"I want to be active so that is why I chose the closest date. I appreciate you guys and I can't wait to see you again and put on a great performance."
