Criss Angel Cancels Vegas Shows After Son Is Diagnosed With Cancer

Criss Angel,47, is trying to be the best father he can be during such a difficult time. After learning that his nearly 2-year-old son, Johnny Crisstopher Sarantakos, had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Criss immediately cancelled his Vegas shows so he could be by his son’s side in Australia.

Johnny was diagnosed with cancer when he returned with his mother to Australia. Upon finding out his son’s scary diagnosis, Criss cancelled his Cirque du Soleil show “Believe” at the Luxor hotel from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Criss tweeted: “In light of a family emergency the news I was going to announce this weekend will be postponed. Thank you xc.”


“For many years, Criss has championed and raised money for various children’s charities here in Las Vegas, but he never thought it would hit this close to home,” one of Criss’ Cirque colleagues told the outlet. “This is a very personal family crisis.”

This is the first batch of shows that Criss has had to cancel in more than 3,000 performances at the Luxor. He’s been performing in Las Vegas for seven years. But family comes first for Criss. The illusionist posted a sweet photo holding his son on Oct. 23. This is the first time Criss has confirmed he’s a father. He also tweeted: “Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Criss.”
